Amodo RFID Chicken Tracker
On 11th September 2026 we released a flock of hens wearing passive RFID leg rings onto our custom tracking floor — a 2 m × 2 m arena of 144 coils, no cameras or on-bird batteries. Everything below comes from the raw capture.
Movement tracking

One dot per identified bird · grid = 12×12 antenna coils covering 2 m × 2 m · positions from raw reads, no interpolation between coils beyond display smoothing.

The passive tag is 22mm in diameter.

Average walking speed while each bird was on the floor.

Each bird's share of floor time - Bluebell patrols the edge while Marigold sticks to the middle.
Behaviour over time
Average walking speed per bird on the floor, in two-minute bins. The sprint at release settles toward a steady patrol pace.

The antenna floor
The tracking floor before its top surface went on: four plywood quadrants, each carrying a 6 × 6 grid of coils, with the reader boards recessed beneath. Bench power supply and scope on the right during commissioning.
